MedSeaFish Explorer: Dive into Mediterranean Seagrass-Fish Data

MedSeaFishE (Mediterranean Seagrass Fish Data Explorer) is an interactive database offering a comprehensive, up-to-date catalogue of fish species observed in Mediterranean seagrass habitats. Drawing on decades of research, it lets users explore which species have been reported in association with different seagrass types, life stages, sampling methods, seasons, and more. Through a systematic review and a newly built Mediterranean-wide dataset, MedSeaFishE offers the first comprehensive picture of fish species associated with native and invasive seagrass meadows, supporting the protection of biodiversity and the sustainable future of Mediterranean marine ecosystems.

  1. Identification. Searches on 6 bibliographic databases. 69 keywords across 3 main fields combined with Boolean operators. No restrictions on publication year. Duplicates and incomplete records removed.
  2. Screening. Papers scored using 193 key-terms across four categories. A Relevance Score (RS) calculated for each paper. Sequential filtering.
  3. Eligibility. Backward and forward reference searches performed to capture missing studies. Singletons species removed (except Lessepsian species).
